Shell Day
Welcome to SHELL DAY a little book of essays about shell-making animals and what they get up to all day long.
I’ve been bursting to reveal my next book (coming May 2026). This special book is a collaboration with my amazing friend and super-talented artist Aaron John Gregory who has created an original, full-page pen and pink artwork to accompany each essay.
The essays peer into the lives of 24 shell-making molluscs (including a few that borrow shells or whose ancestors used to make them) as they go about their days. It’s a global journey, from frozen polar seas to the deep sea, from coral reefs to rocky shores.
Shell Day is part of the Earth Day series from Chicago University Press joining Bird Day, Tree Day, Flower Day, Mushroom Day and Frog Day.
It’s been an absolute pleasure working on this lovely book with Aaron, and Joe Calamia and all the team at Chicago.
